Need a break from Left 4 Dead? And go back to the old school death match style games? Maybe it’s time to open up TF2 again and start battering up! VALVe has just recently updated TF2 with New Weapons. For the Scout. So it’s been a really long time since VALVe updated TF2 and they did nothing but work on L4D during the 6 month hiatus. Does VALVe still deliver? Are the new weapons worth your time getting? Let’s let the scout do the talking….
The Scout’s Got a Brand New Bag
What are Scout’s best known for? Their speed? Ridiculously powerful Scattergun? Dying a lot? Or being annoying? All of the above. VALVe’s first objective for the Scout, was to make him a bit more durable in heavy combat situations. The game mode such as Arena, were usually death traps for scouts. Due to their low health and no re-spawns, they were easy kill. Now Scout’s are much more durable and have the ability to go head to head with their enemy instead of just jumping around them.
The Force-A-Nature

The first un-lockable that you achieve, and personally one of my favorites! The Force-A-Nature is a beast looking gun. That awesome Double-barrel, stock extension, and size of the gun, make it even more sexier. Any who, the F-A-N, gives scouts the ability to knock back opponents, and give themselves a knock back while in mid-air. This gun is great against light and medium classes and really gets the enemy off-site. It works great for the defensive scout, and the scout who wants their enemy to fall to their deaths instead. However though, it’s only 2 shots and it’s damage is 20% weaker. But it’s spray radius is larger, has less re-coil then the Scatter Gun, and the reload is very quick. Not to mention, this thing sounds fucking awesome, and it just feels a lot more reliable than the Scatter. Oh I almost forgot! Check out the hilarious poster VALVe made for the gun!

The Sandman

Tired of the ol’ aluminum bat? Want something that will leave your enemies dumb founded? Look no further! The Sandman is just exactly what you need! At the cost of your double jump! Yep that’s right. The Sandman takes away the scouts 2nd jump. But at least he still has his speed right? Yes, but the price of loosing the double jump makes the scout a bit less annoying and maneuverable. All though, this weapon is perfect for the up close and personal Scout. The Sandman has the ability to stun an opponent for a short time by hitting him with the ball and depending on how far you hit the ball, determines the time effect (Also stuns ubers). After you stun them, go at them with the bat or 2 shotguns. The baseball can be retrieved and can be hit again, however if the ball bounces out of range, the Scout will have to wait a minute before a new ball is created and run around batting people in the face. Or pick up another scouts ball. This really isn’t a bad weapon, but it’s just hard to aim at people and actually hit them with it. And the no 2nd jump might be a bit skeptical to use with many annoying scout users. But just nailing a guy with a ball and watching as stars and birds chirp around him is more then satisfying. Well. Almost. It’s the most satisfying when you bat that guy out of the map!

BONK ENERGY DRINK!

Wait what? First the Sandvich and now this? Jesus VALVe, why not just give the Soldier a Ration pack while you’re at it! I’m kidding. I actually love this little guy. The BONK energy drink gives scouts a temporary short boost of speed, and gives them the ability to dodge bullets. This item is perfect for the scouts who need to run away from a fight, or get past enemy lines when pesky sentries are around! Also, when you drink it, you get this cool blur effect!

ZZZZZOOOOOOM! Look at him go! Sadly, with every weapon their is a downside. Scout’s can not attack while in this mode, and after the boost is done, Scout’s get the crash effect. Scout’s lose their speed and start traveling at the speed of a pyro or demo-man. Which in scout language means, “That’s a hella slow”. To Scout’s that is. The crash effect only last for several seconds, and by then you should hopefully be out of enemy range. If not, you’re screwed. But the fact that scouts can now easily pass those hazards, make him a team player now. For instance, he can distract a sentry while his partners destroy the sentry.

Overall
Well……I’m gonna say that it was a good pack. Not great, but a good pack. The new shotgun and energy drink are really just one of my favorites, and I would of loved the Sandman if it wasn’t so hard to use and didn’t compensate over my 2nd jump. But I’m sure people that hate scout will find some entertainment in this pack.
