You may or not know that I sometimes like writing poetry. Granted they’re usually they’re about girls and related troubles but I’d thought I’d try something different which is what I have done for you today. Here is a poem about the recently released Mega Man 9 sharing my thoughts about it. Enjoy. (The rest of the poem is after the jump)
With the new Wii Shop update,
Came a new WiiWare game,
Mega Man 9 has finally arrived,
Oh my god I just came…
It cost 1000 Wii Points to buy,
A price I hapilly paid,
Downloaded it and selected it,
And I played and I played and I played.
All in it’s 8-Bit glory,
It’s a true blast from the past,
My smiles turned to frowns however,
‘Cause the fun did not last.
The 8 bosses loomed at me,
Splash Woman and all the rest,
These Robot Masters and their stages,
Put the Blue Bomber to the test.
Gotta learn all their weaknesses,
Gotta learn a new strategy,
With each new death and failure,
I wonder if this game’s any good for me.
My reflexes are out of touch,
It’s been a while since a game like this,
I keep messing up on the levels,
Be it the enemies or the platforms I miss.
Beating the stages took me 3 hours,
But that wasn’t the end of it,
Dr Wily’s Castle loomed in the distance,
A sight that made me yell ‘Shit!’.
The swearing was due to the task ahead,
4 more stages until I reach the end,
But I must say in all honesty,
This game is driving me ’round the bend!
The 4 stages took 4 hours,
Including beating the bosses again,
If they weren’t doing evil and all,
They’d make great Mega Men…
So after those 7 hours,
the task was done,
The bosses were beat,
The final battle was won.
What follows is the ending,
Which I don’t want to spoil,
But after all he went through,
Mega Man does deserve a can of oil.
I smiled after finishing,
Who can you blame,
But I’ve only done a handful of challenges,
My gosh I must be lame…
I looked at the list,
30 something left to do,
Some seem so impossible,
Who can do them damnit, who?!
With a look at the rankings,
My jaw quickly dropped,
Some beat the game in 26 minutes,
That must be photoshopped!
The game’s still very good,
I must stop my complaining,
There’s praise to be given,
In the verses that are remaining.
The music is amazing,
It’s as good as Mega Man II,
Challenges are a good inclusion,
And some are quite fun to go do.
The little details are nice,
Classic sound effects and more,
The news anchor in the first cut-scene,
A likeness of Chun-Li she bore.
Downloadable content I’m looking forward to,
And from what has already been announced,
I predict hours of more fun and annoyance,
And ages ’til this game’s death will be pronounced.
If you have the patience or skill,
I do recommend Mega Man entry,
It’s probably a welcome change,
To more spies sapping your sentry…
I’ll round this article off,
With an arbitrary score,
I give it 9 out of 10,
It’s classic Mega Man galore!
