(really hates Labor Day)
Seriously. Freakin’ Labor Day…made me think yesterday was Sunday and today was Monday. Nopes. Today be Tuesday and thus my Weekly AMV is a day late. No, Link isn’t guest hosting…I simply got mixed up.*
Well this one was another AMV I had forgotten about until I heard the song on the radio. Immediately, images of this AMV flooded my head. It is by no means a flawless AMV. In fact, the quality is pretty bad. But the perfect match of song and anime theme just puts it over the edge. Set to the anime Ranma 1/2, the AMV is fully centered on side character Ryoga. For those who aren’t familar with the anime, its about a boy named Ranma who is afflicted with a curse. When he comes in contact with cold water, he takes the form of a girl and when he touches warm water, he returns back to normal. A similar curse has fallen upon his father who instead turns into a Panda when he comes in contact with cold water. Well it would seem that these two have contracted the worst of the curses, that is until it is revealed that Ranma’s rival, Ryoga is cursed as well and changes into a little piglet to boot. However, Ryoga uses this curse to his advantage at times by snuggling up to the beautiful Akane as a pet, much to the fury of Ranma.
Ryoga was my favorite character in this show mainly because he seemed pretty daffy at times, so much that he constantly gets lost no matter where he’s going. Countless times has he challenged Ranma to a fight but gets lost on the way to the match, even if its just around the corner. Instead of fighting, he thus journeys for hundreds of miles until he finally comes across Ranma months later ready for the fight that was scheduled months prior. Needless to say, its obvious how this song just fits the character so well.
