(Now we honor the Necronomicon!)

Hey! It’s part two of our musical review! Didn’t read part one? Well, do that now!
When we left off, Annie, Jake, & Ed found Ash and the bloodied chainsaw and they tossed his ass down in the crypt with his crazy possessed sister! OH NOES!!!! We’re also treated to a reprise of “I’m Not a Killer”. Eventually he gets out and…

Singers: Ed
Here is the song in a Resident Evil music video, since I couldn’t find the actual scene…
Ed basically goes on a huge solo rant about how his character is totally ignored, pointless, etc. in the Evil Dead 2 and the Musical. I got a pretty decent laugh out of it, since it’s obviously true, and we all know about these wonderful bit-part characters. Then Ash blows his head off mid-way through the song, and hilarity ensues.

Singers: Annie, Ash, & Jake
Here is a clip of the scene…
Ed is dead and her father just forced his way into their world to beg for his soul to be saved. Annie then goes into a full on solo with some back-up singing by Ash and Jake about how all the men in her life keep getting killed by Candarian demons. It’s pretty random and amusing, it’s a lot of filler music though lately, since things are winding down and they can’t work the key plot elements in with any sort of musical song and dance.

This part doesn’t have much music going on, as I’ve mentioned, but is being brought up simply because in the latest version of this musical, a lot of new parts were added during this chunk of the movie, such as… “Ode to an Accidental Stabbing” (Jake, Annie, Cheryl), then they filled out the ending with a lot more songs which I will mention as well.
After the above scene however a lot of plot occurs. Jake wants to get out of the cabin, and thus throws the pages into the fruit cellar and holds Ash and Annie at gun point to leave the cabin. We then get our taste of ‘Evil Ash’, and eventually Jake getting stabbed with the handy dandy Candarian dagger (I assume this is where “Ode to an Accidental Stabbing” comes into play) and is eaten up in the basement with blood gushing everywhere, etc. like in Evil Dead 2. Ash also reverts back to normal by looking at his girlfriend’s dollar store bought necklace.
Ash already burst into the basement, beat up the she-witch and now they’re reciting the lines to summon Rotten Apple Head so they can throw him back through the vortex between worlds and rid the cabin of demons forever! Wow, this act sure doesn’t have much for music, does it? Well, don’t worry, in the NEW musical they added a lot of extra songs that I didn’t have the opportunity to see, however I’m almost positive they’re awesome.

Singers: Candarian Demons
Here is a clip of the scene as performed by a Rocky Horror group during their preshow…
ANYWAYS, before all this rift sending away vortex action happens, all the deadites come out for a big musical solo, filled with absolute randomness, Thriller dance moves, and other campy dances. It’s pretty enjoyable for the most part, and has a pretty catchy tune.

The plots and songs branch at this point depending on the version of the musical you’re watching… we’ll start with the ‘original’ version that I saw.

Singers: Full Company
Here is… nothing…
Honestly, I can’t find any clips of this scene, and I’m assuming it was a quick little one minute song or something, because I don’t even remember it myself. I assume it occurs right after “Do the Necronomicon” and involves the demons and everyone including Ash to be sucked back into the vortex to a time far far away… oh yeah, and Annie gets stabbed in the back with the Candarian Dagger by Ash’s severed evil hand! lol @ irony! This gets a rating of 1, simply because I don’t remember this song at all.

Here is the scene…
It’s a pretty good finale to the musical if you ask me. It covers the whole ‘lol sequel?’ ending of Evil Dead II where Ash travels back in time through the vortex to a medieval time where he is the ‘Hero of Light’ and he who delivers evil from this world and what not. The casting call has a nice little reprise of “Cabin in the Woods” with the entire cast.

OR….

Songs: “We Will Never Die” (Candarian Demons), “Blew That Bitch Away” (Full Company), “Groovy” (Instrumental)
I have nothing to add or rate about these clips since they’re totally out of context but from the sound and look of the video it seems as if they approach the ‘Army of Darkness’ ending out of nowhere, instead of the Evil Dead II official ending, to give the musical a little bit more closure in terms of plot. I can only find a clip of “Blew That Bitch Away” and I can only assume the other two songs were short and forgettable little numbers too to help wrap up the show.
I hope you all enjoyed the review, and if you want an overall score, I can only give this musical…

Because it’s so damn good, whether you’re a huge fan or not.

I kinda want to watch this again, I may need to borrow it from you at some point since I know how you are about rewatching stuff. Plus, the necrinomicon dance was by far my fave part of the movie, albeit some parts of the first act were pretty badass/funny
Actually, I need to rewatch it so I can remember what the heck “It’s Time” was.
