Anime Blitzkrieg: S-Cry-Ed

Hello and welcome to Anime Blitzkrieg! Today we will take a look at S-Cry-Ed! According to what Wikipedia says, S-Cry-Ed is a 26 episode long Japanese anime produced by Sunrise, directed by Goro Taniguichi and Written by Yosuke Kuroda. Also like many anime today its based off the Manga. Anyway, I’m just gonna give a brief run down of the characters, plot, and everything else you’re to expect in S-Cry-Ed. So first I would like to talk about what S-Cry-Ed is all about.

Story

Set several years after “The Great Uprising”, a future geological phenomenon near Tokyo, people have developed a power granting them the ability to deconstruct, reshape, and crystallize matter at a molecular level using only thought and willpower. These people have come to be known as “Alter” users, and with only 1% of the newborn generations receiving such special power (though later in the series it is stated that the number has increased to 5% and steadily continuing to rise), some feel a superiority over normal humans.

There are two opposing forces of alters: the Native Alters, a group of Alter users who live outside the central city and avoid any relationships with the government; and HOLY, an organization of Alter users that are a subgroup of an organization called HOLD. HOLD functions as the Mainland government’s super police force of the Lost Ground, while HOLY, composed exclusively of Alter users, serves as the ’special operations’ group, aiding HOLD in performing dangerous missions that might require the help of an Alter user.

*Phew* Okay thats out of the way! Now lets talk characters!

Characters

Kazuma

This is Kazuma. He’s a 16 year old who lives in the Lost Ground with a little girl named Kanami.

And this is Kazuma’s arm.

Okay its actually his Alter power. Whenever he uses his alter, his hair goes all Cloud Strife on him, and he can transform his arm into a metal alloy; and uses the spikes off his back to project himself at lighting speed. He’s basically a movable version of Captain Falcons “Falcon Punch”. Kazuma spends his time doing any job given by his friend Kimishima. And when he gets the money, he burns it out on gambling rather then vital needs. Anyway, Kazuma is one of the main characters in S-Cry-Ed and the anime centers around him and Ryuhou.

Ryuhou

This is Ryuhou, but don’t let his cool cat look fool you, this guy is an emo in the first few episodes. And he’s really nothing but a douche. But later on he loses his doucheness and becomes more likeable. So Ryuhou is a 17 year old who lost his Mother during a massacre of a Native Alter. Till then he cursed all native alters and joined HOLY. Ryuhou’s alter is “Zetsuei”, a humanoid alter that possesses flexible ribbons.

Ryuhou is very strict about his job and he does his best to stay on top. Him and Kazuma are enemies, mostly because Kazuma broke out of HOLD and attacked other HOLD members. So till then him and Kazuma have an on going brawl between each other.

Useless Characters (until the last moment)

These are the characters that don’t even deserve to be in the Anime, thats until at the very last second they do something that makes them useful. But you’ll still hate them even after that.

Mimori

She’s the childhood love of Ryuhou, and she travels across the world into the Lost Ground just to see him. And of course the douche that Ryuhou is, he just says “fuck off woman” . But she stays in the Lost Ground and keeps trying to get some with Ryuhou. You’ll mostly be seeing Mimori getting in the way of everything, and she’s only really useful in some parts but after that they just toss her around like a rag doll trying to think of ideas. Mostly because she has no alter power and no power = lame.

Scheris

Either HOLD makes her wear that, or Scheris is a down right 15 year old whore. Scheris has an Alter ability, but she doesn’t tell about it until the 20th episode. She works with Ryuhou, and she has a love interest in him. But again Ryuhou’s douchness cock blocks this affair. You’ll mostly see her getting into trouble and then Ryuhou has to save her, but after he saves her its not “Don’t worry your safe now” its more like “What the hell bitch! Do your job better!”. So till then you can oggle at Scheris and her body parts until the anime has something to do with her besides being damsel in distress.

Kanami

An 8 year old who happens to live with Kazuma. Kanami is kind of like Kazuma’s little sister but her attitude is more like a house mom. She constantly tries to get Kazuma to work and she always seems to be working; herself. Kanami has no clue that Kazuma is an alter, and she also has no idea that she too is an alter. But you don’t find that out for some time. Just like Scheris, whenever Kanami is in trouble Kazuma has to help her out, but only thing is Kazuma isn’t a douche after he saves someone. So till then your gonna have to oggle at Kanami’s Pretty bow she always wears. What? You thought I was gonna say body parts again? Sorry you pervs, I don’t roll that way, thats down right nasty loli.

Kimishima

Kazuma’s friend, he gives out jobs to Kazuma for cash. He’s the exact opposite of Kazuma and he is very cautious of his surroundings and likes to think first before doing anything drastic. He’s often seen in the anime cruising with Kazuma and worrying all the time. He also doesn’t have an alter power, but he’s got guns! Lots of them too! And not to mention he’s like the only native in the Lost Ground who has a car that runs.

The Ultimate Bad Ass of the Anime

This is the guy that gets the award for being such a bad ass through out the anime, even though he didn’t have the biggest part in the anime, he still deserved more. Hell, he should have his own anime damn it!

Straight Cougar

Straight Cougar. Holy shit this guy is awesome! Sure he works for HOLD but that doesn’t mean he’s one of the bad guys! Straight Cougar’s alter is the ability to transform any vehicle into his trade mark car, and he can travel at super sonic speeds! And every time he gets to a destination within a certain range of time he always says his favorite quote “Ah I’ve shrunk the world yet again”. Cougar is just a plain bad ass, and if you want to see his other bad ass alter form then you gotta watch the anime. Cougar is mostly seen helping out Mimori, and he takes from destination to destination and gives her classified info about the Lost Ground and HOLD. Also Cougar tends to be a ladies man so he constantly hits on Mimori even though he gets her name wrong every time. All though this fails because Mimori doesn’t see what Cougar goes through to get the info for her, God what a bitch. Either way Cougar is the best character in this anime.

Overall

S-Cry-Ed is an action packed anime that surely wont let thrill seakers down! Till then I’ll just leave you guys with the Intro video for S-Cry-Ed
